This song comes from Adham Shaikh’s breathtaking release, Basswalla, a collection of reworked early tracks and groundbreaking originals from the Canadian global electronica wizard.
Driven by tabla, conga, and bongo percussion, the atmospherics of “Collective [Yogi Dub Mix]” will beckon you to the yoga mat and/or the dance floor. It’s spaced out, propulsive and buoyed by Adham’s trademark dip bass.
We hope you enjoy this song. As always, thanks for listening. If you like what you’re hearing, please spread the word and help support the art you want to see in the world.
Conga and Vocals: Melissa M3 :: Tabla: Marko Zonka
Indian Vocals: Jen Miller
Original version appears on Collectivity
This song started with a drum loop and tabla performance by Marco Zonka, and conga and bongo playing from Melissa M3. Jen Miller’s beautiful singing performance sent me on a deeper exploration into Indian vocals and led me to reframe this as a dub track. This song is about working together to find harmony between diverse elements.
